Rules

Don't

Don't communicate. Don't use cell phone, IRC, email, web chat. Don't login to outside systems. Don't login to myy, imp, blackboard. Don't use material in secret locations. Don't have any notes with you. Don't look at other student's monitors. Don't connect your movable drive to computer.

Do

Browse the web. Use search engines. Read published homework notes. Have on your table: identification, movable drive. Do things like they should be done. Use good passwords for your users. If you create users and want to change their settings (like homepages), login as that new user instead of using sudo in someones home directory.

Background

WebMonkeyBunch Ltd is a small company. It creates web sites and codes programs. Company has CEO Einari Vähäkäähkä and developers Matti Virtanen, Ragnar Smith, Takashi Fobia and Maija Mehiläinen.

1. Install

Install Linux workstation with default software (OpenOffice, Firefox, Gimp...)

2. Homepages

All your users want to make homepages. Make example homepages for all users. Matti Virtanen wants to make a dynamic page with PHP. Create an example PHP page on Matti's homepage.

3. Remote Control

All users want to modify their homepages from abroad.

After the Exam

Have on your screen Your name and student number Homepages of each user SSH connection to your computer Use such addresses in your examples that they could work from outside your computer, too.
